Solo exhibition in Athens.
Art gallery “e k f r a s i – gianna grammatopoulou” is pleased to present Juliano Kaglis’ (Athens Academy Award 2013) solo exhibition ‘the grand illusion’ on Thursday 15 January 2015.
Kaglis within an interplay of large and small, continues to challenge the substance of painting, disputing the boundaries between reality and illusion, life and art, discovering or directing images that level amid the everyday, the enigma and the magic.
Manos Stefanidis comments on the artist’s work: “As he matures, Kaglis balances enchantingly on the boundary between representational and abstract, concrete and improvisational, between what is identifiable – by whom and how, I wonder – and that which remains elusive, immersing itself in a lake of translucent dreams, turpentine colours and silky darkness…”.
Opening: Thursday January 15 2015
Time: 19:30
Duration: January 15 – February 14 2015

Juliano Kaglis awarded by the Academy of Athens
Juliano Kaglis was honoured with the Distinguished Greek Painter Award for artists up to 40 years old, offered by the Academy of Athens. The award ceremony took place on December 20, in the Academys special premises.
In a statement, the artist talked about the great honour of receiving such a distinction by the countrys most prestigious cultural institution. He said: “I want to thank the Academy for this award, which encourages me to continue my career with even greater determination. And I am even more moved as I deeply admire Pr. Panayotis Tetsis; he was the greatest influence on my work, during my student years at the Athens School of Fine Arts”.
